Hannah Zakari is an independent boutique specialising in items which are designed or handmade by indie designers. We’re proud of what we do and love supporting creative individuals and cottage industries. Our passion for indie design means we are always excited about the latest thing to come into the shop and thrive on finding beautiful and interesting new designs for our customers.

They’re always striving to do things a bit differently to the ‘high street’ and like to work in close collaboration with their designers to create products and a shopping experience which will delight their customers; with details like hand-stamped packaging, artist’s window displays and their summer HZ Zine.

Since opening their virtual doors in 2004, Hannah Zakari has represented work from over 180 independent designers and artists from the UK and abroad and has been featured in many magazines and newspapers including Vogue, Grazia, The Guardian, Your Cat and Tatler. They opened a gorgeous ‘bricks and mortar’ boutique in July 2010 on Edinburgh’s Candlemaker Row and in May 2013 were featured as part of Stylist’s Top 50 UK boutiques.

People often ask for Hannah, but I’m afraid she’s not a real person! She wanted the name of the business to reflect her love of Japan and it’s culture. Hannah Zakari comes from the Japanese čŠ±ē››ć‚Š [hanazakari], which translates as ‘blossoming’ or ‘blooming’.

We hope you love what you find on our website as much as we do!
